Tally · rice shellers
Tally for rice shellers: Bharti, Kachi Purchase, lifting and Bardana.
The masters, vouchers and returns a Punjab sheller runs on, inside Tally, so the parallel register stops.
- What it is
- A TDL customisation on your Tally
- Reversible
- Remove it, Tally is as it was
- Written for
- Shellers buying paddy through the mandi
- Cost
- Quoted per unit
The problem
A rice sheller in Punjab does not run on the vocabulary Tally ships with. Paddy arrives against a Bharti. Purchases from the mandi are Kachi Purchase before they are anything else. Grain moves out under government lifting and under self-lifting, which are different transactions with different consequences. The sacking is issued and accounted for on its own. And a specific set of government returns has to come out in a specific shape.
None of it is in standard Tally, and none of it can be approximated with a well-named ledger. So most shellers keep a register next to Tally, and the two never quite agree.
Masters
- Bharti master, with the values your unit uses.
- Variety master, set the same way.
The module is switched on from Tally's own features screen, company by company.
Vouchers
- Multi purchase order, and multi challan against purchase order.
- Kachi Purchase, the mandi purchase as it is first recorded.
- Automatic journal entry raised through the purchase.
- Government lifting voucher.
- Self lifting voucher.
- Bardana issue voucher, so the sacking is tracked rather than assumed.
- Purchase and sale vouchers carry the module's fields where you switch them on, voucher type by voucher type.

We name it voucher by voucher because it is the least generic thing we do. Anybody can say they customise Tally. The test of whether they mean it is whether they can name the vouchers.
What it is not
It is not a general manufacturing module. Bills of material, outward job work and process costing for other trades are onthe manufacturing page.
It is not a separate system either. It runs inside the Tally company you already have, and there is no project count or client list on this page: the vouchers are the evidence.
Your data
The module is a Tally customisation, written in TDL. Your data does not move: no migration, no parallel run. Remove it and Tally is as it was.
Cost
Quoted per unit, no price list. What decides it is how your unit records Bharti and varieties today, which returns you file, how many years of data have to keep working, and how many machines it goes on. You describe how the season runs, we look at your company data, and you get a fixed figure before anything starts.
